Two changes from the release notes will affect users of the portable version, hopefully in a good way:
Support for .NET 4.0 means that Windows 8 users will no longer need to download and install .NET 3; older versions of .NET are of course still supported.
The update notification mechanism detects that the portable version is running and will offer to download the portable version, not the installer.
