A Google search yields a lot of results of programs I am not familiar with - and all Commercial, it seems.

I have been using SnagIt for many years, and feel that it is well worth the money. (40 USD) It can capture text to the Clipboard or to a file.

Dan

You could download AutoIt.

It actually is a programming language, but an application included with it can grab text from a window.

Depending on the needs, there is also another little app:

SysExporter v1.20
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/sysexp.html

I did not check, but, like many apps of the same author, it can be portable.

[added] it does not write settings... :)
