2. Download.com with MD5 : 2953E728A636B623883EDC24A8C9B21A

3. MajorGeeks.com with MD5 : 47207C0F0D4E3290F2D61D6CF424018D

If I remember correctly download.com hosts the files themselves. Majorgeeks might also. This could explain different md5's from sites which pointed to the host d/l.

Or wasn't that what you were asking?

Hi..and thx Juror :-)

Here I try to explain more detail.
But 1st I want to apologize as my English Language & Grammar are real bad
(not my 1st language) please don't be offend :(

Last week my hard drive stop working, document & data is okay..have routine backup
But I lost some programs including Notepad2 version "2.1.19".
Then I search from internet for this version.
At last, I got each from Chip.eu, Download.com and MajorGeeks.com.
But when compared under MD5 hash, all the 3 ZIP package are different in MD5.
This also happened with "Notepad2.exe" file which extracted from inside the package.
Each executable have their own MD5!
Actually, they are same version, size, date, time even second!
Now I have no idea which package should I use/keep :(
Anyway, I have no plan to upgrade to v3 because this one really stable.

Why in the description from the database is stated that there is no unicode support for version 3.0.20 ?

i just found a great mod of notepad2. here are the included patches:
  • Make the manifest compatible with x86-64
  • x86-32 and x86-64 project file for Visual C++ 6.0 SP6; requires the Windows 2003 SP1 Platform SDK
  • Adds code folding support and an option to turn on and turn off code folding
  • Enables the "Image File Execution Options" Notepad replacement method
  • Enables the saving of Notepad2 ini files to paths that have not yet been created
  • Changes to support the new Pascal lexer on the Scintilla trunk
  • Adds support for shell scripts, AutoIt3, LaTeX, and ASCII art (NFO)
  • Adds support for NSIS and support for Inno Setup scripts
  • Disable the parts of Scintilla's Apache config lexer that are too buggy
the patches are all available separately, and there are also compiled versions (x86 and x64) available on the website. they're packed into installers, but that's easy enough to deal with.

i'm no programmer so i mostly like the ASCII support (for NFO files), but others might appreciate different features.

anyway find it all here:

v4.0.24 RC1 is available :!:

ChangeLog

Code: Select all

  - /z command line switch (support registry-based Notepad replacement)
  - Fixed some /p command line switch options not working properly
  - New style setting to control font smoothing (see FAQ on my website)
  - Hotkey to copy pathname of current file to clipboard (Shift+F9)
  - Updated Scintilla library to 2.01-cvs $Date: 2009/12/16 $
As of version 4.0.24, the official release of Notepad2 supports this method for replacing Windows Notepad, so the steps outlined above will work fine. However, there's no support to perform the Notepad replacement automatically, as the official release of Notepad2 will not modify the system registry. For the same reason, there's no support for accessing recent files through the Windows 7 jump lists (this requires registration of applications in the system registry, first). Also note that automated Notepad replacement could have undesirable effects if Notepad2 was used as a Notepad replacement from a portable device, and the original state was not restored after disconnecting the device.

A batch script to run from the Notepad2 directory and replace Windows Notepad might look like this (single line):

reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\notepad.exe" /v "Debugger" /t REG_SZ /d "\"%~dp0Notepad2.exe\" /z" /f

The Windows Notepad can be restored with this command (single line):

reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\notepad.exe" /f
And it Works!
