Turbo.net (formerly "Spoon") web applications

#1 Post by webfork »

This has been discussed over time in multiple different threads, but I thought I'd give it a separate thread since the platform is getting pretty mature.

The service includes virtualized versions of many desktop and server applications (LibreOffice, Notepad++, Apache, Skype, and even torrents) available over the Internet without install. As it not only requires an Internet connection but is completely useless without one, certainly this doesn't qualify as portable. It's also only sort of freeware as the free version is only available for Windows, which is odd. Still, the number and variety of programs make it useful for folks on computers with dramatic user controls.

Probably most useful for any web developers is the Browser testing service: http://www.turbo.net/browsers/
