Folder Monitor: http://www.nodesoft.com/foldermonitor
FolderMonitor helps you monitor what happens in a folder. When something changes you can get popup’s and sound alerts.
You can also execute commands based on the changes. You can monitor local drives and server shares.
If a remote location is not reachable for a while, FolderMonitor will try to reconnect to the folder. Multiple locations can be monitored. Notifications can pop up like this (when a new file was created).

Folder Monitor

Folder Monitor settings are not portable - they're stored in a folder in %APPDATA%.

A few small tools @ http://www.toygrams.com/ for Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 & 64 bit), no-install, single .exe files (not tested for portability).

1. CinemaDrape (62kb) helps you focus on your current task on the screen (such as a video in a web page, a photo or a document editor area) by instantly blanking or dimming the other less important areas in a web page or in the background windows.

CinemaDrape is at version 2.0.0.235 (133KB)
Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/cinemadrape/download/

2. HTMtied (28kb)instantly converts any Internet address (link, URL, bookmark, favorite) to a very small HTML file that when opened in any browser, it will automatically load that address. Use it when you want to save an Internet address for future use on your computer, tablet, smartphone, web storage, Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, etc.

HTMtied is at version 2.0.1.19 (28KB)
Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/htmtied/download/

3. InjuredPixels (42kb) allows you to easily check for dead or defective pixels on LCD monitors. InjuredPixels can be used to test a new LCD monitor before purchasing, or an already purchased monitor during the warranty period (as you may get a replacement according to the manufacturer's dead pixel policy).

InjuredPixels is at version 3.0.0.50 (17KB)
Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/injuredpixels/download/

4. colortypist (44kb) - Type in the name or Web/RGB code of a Color and see that Color fill your entire screen, in real-time, while you type. Set any Color you like as your Desktop Wallpaper or generate sample images filled with that Color.

Colortypist is at version 3.0.0.37 (49KB)
Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/colortypist/download/

5. Thumbico (85kb, Vista/7 only) displays the thumbnail or icon of any file, image, document, video or program from your Desktop or computer. But unlike Windows, which shows you small, standard sized images, Thumbico gives you the large, any size "uncensored" version. Features like resizing, converting or saving the icons make it useful for presentations, and for software development and testing.

Thumbico is at version 1.1.0.8 (85KB)
Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/thumbico/download/

Edit (02 March 2013):
Website is now at http://www.aurelify.com/

New App:

- PixelHealer

Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/pixelhealer/download/ (Version 1.0.0.20. Size: 64KB)

- ColorVeil

Dl @ http://www.aurelify.com/colorveil/download/ (Version: 1.0.0.5. Size: 59KB)

CCEnhancer

Tested: Portable
CCEnhancer is a small tool which adds support for over 500 new programs into the popular program CCleaner. The tool uses the winapp2.ini system built into CCleaner to easily add new rules and definitions for programs. The rules were sourced mainly from the Piriform Support Forum, with several sourced from other places around the internet. Directly download the winapp2.ini file here.

MakeRoom scans the NTFS $MFT (file table) in a matter of mere seconds. Then, with a special slick UI, it presents a list of "heavy" folders and their type (music/video/pictures). It also allows filtering by drives or folder types and re-scanning that takes less than half the time.

Capture.NET and Library.NET both look excellent, but require dotNET v4.0.
