A new entry for XMPlay was added by mistake (http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... f=8&t=5760) so I simply edited the data. Ignore the first comment.

Re: IdleBackup
I'm glad Andrew updated the description. I was in a rush when I edited the initial entry and didn't have enough time to get a screenshot up. I simply wanted to replace the duplicate entry.
(thought I would explain my sloppy submission!)

Re: IdleBackup
Clearly far ahead of other backup programs here on the site. Great stuff. 11 megs ram, 1.5 megs on the drive.
Hope future versions have FTP, 7zip support, and/or zip password protection.

Thanks! You haven't voted for it though!
Re: IdleBackup
V1.18 in fact saves to the %APPDATA% does anyone know of a work around?
Re: IdleBackup
IdleBackup is not portable. Please remove it from TPFC.

Re: IdleBackup
It used to be portable. The author posted in the program entry's commentsin January about changing the configuration behavior for compatibility with newer versions of Windows. I just sent him a brief message to see if he could re-add an option for portability...
*edit* - The author's reply was "Sorry but i stopped supporting the program."
Anyone have 1.16d, which I believe was the last portable version (maybe 1.17)?

Sigh. Bummer.

I've got 1.8 or 1.18 depending on which menu inside the program you look at.

Re: IdleBackup
CNet.com is still hosting version 1.16d
hope that is the portable version

I have not tried it yet but is it open source?
Could you ask the author to consider porting the code to open source if it is not currently?

Tnx. donald.
Here's a link to the download page: http://download.cnet.com/Idlebackup/300 ... 92532.html
Uniextract and you are good to go (the goodies are in the {app} folder).

Re: IdleBackup
I finally got the chance to really run this program through the motions today on a fairly intense backup process and it performed beautifully. Now I'm especially sorry to hear the author walked away. Still consider it the best backup tool on PFW so far.
Re: IdleBackup
I have noticed the following posted in German at the top of the website for IdleBackup
This site is for sale! (Sickness) Mail addressed to the administrator Includes all sources (Delphi) and rights to download software

Re: IdleBackup
I think a better translation of "wegens ziekte" (Dutch, BTW, not German) is "due to illness"--the author is having to give up his software development because of poor health.
Re: IdleBackup
Thats a shame! I have no background in Delphi, so it wouldn't be worth me taking over the project.
Re: IdleBackup
That's a real shame. I completely understand him wanting to sell it. I wanted to encourage him to open source the whole thing but I'd want money for it too.Onesimus Prime wrote:I think a better translation of "wegens ziekte" (Dutch, BTW, not German) is "due to illness"--the author is having to give up his software development because of poor health.
