MailStore Home is currently v8.3[.0.10970] (changelog at http://www.mailstore.com/en/mailstore-h ... gelog.aspx).

BTW, MailStore Home is now natively portable, as the downloadable installer package currently offers to create a portable setup at user discretion...

NOTE: I didn't check stealth status! (For info, see the yaP launcher configuration at http://rolandtoth.hu/yaP/configs/MailStore Home.ini)

I'm quite sure some of those work on XP.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Deepinvent\MailStore\Client Settings
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Deepinvent\MailStore

Only 2 reg keys related to window size and position.
Firebird folder is empty.
So I think it still qualifies as Portable, it's just not stealth.

I never said it wasn't, I was just suggesting the yaP version is an alternative.

MailStore Home at version 10.0.0.12127, changes:
MailStore Home 10.0

November 30, 2016
  • New Full encryption of databases. In addition to the existing encryption of the email contents and sensitive data inside the databases, all databases are now fully encrypted. On first start, the archive will be upgraded automatically. Please note that this may take a few minutes.
  • New MailStore Home archives can now be password protected.
  • NOTE When protecting a MailStore Home archive with a password, it is required to save or print a recovery key. This recovery key provides the only way to restore access to the archive if the password is forgotten.
  • New Optionally allow MailStore to send anonymized usage statistics, so that we understand even better how the software is used. The raw data to be transferred can be reviewed at any time.
  • New Windows performance counter for monitoring the Firebird database connection pool.
  • Improved Delete key triggers delete function when one or more emails are selected in the email list.
  • Improved Show a warning when a folder is renamed and a folder with the new name already exists.
  • Improved Automatically delete the mailbox cache file "MailboxCache.fdb" if it could not be loaded successfully.
  • Fixed Hyperlinks in dialogs are now clickable.
  • Fixed Incorrect encoding of passwords used when logging into remote IMAP server.
  • Fixed Export via IMAP to Tobit’s David Server fails when server sends EXPUNGE in response to APPEND command.
  • Fixed RTF attachments are spuriously used as email body when email is exported to MSG file.
  • Fixed Incorrect archive path shown in MailStore Home Portable Configuration dialog.
  • Fixed Embedded browser controls are no longer supported by Google's consent dialog. As recommended by Google, the user’s default web browser is now used to open the consent dialog.
  • Fixed Major update of third party library, which fixes several minor issues in archiving, displaying and exporting of emails.

If you want to use it for work you would need to buy it, but the price is way too high (Starting at € 295). And version 8 which I tried didn't really work for me, perhaps 10 would, but I'm not going to spend that kind of money.

If you need an alternative I'd recommend Archivarius 3000 which starts at 45 euro for a business license. You can't really compare the programs as Archivarius 3000 is a "desktop search program" (very similar too Google Desktop, Copernicus etc) but if you only need the search part and you only need a one user license the choice is easy to make. (I tried many desktop/email search programs and personally found Archivarius 3000 to be the best for my personal needs)

OT: there is something amiss with TPFC search -- a query for "mailstore" came up empty several times. :?
