Passmark OSFMount

A small program called OSFMount from https://www.osforensics.com/tools/mount ... mages.html allows ISOs to be mounted.

The program can be extracted, runs without re-boot and needs only two files to run as a standalone. The change log states "Fixed issue with improperly loading/unloading OSFMount driver". Can someone please test to see how "clean" it is.

A new version was released yesterday.

Same link as above.

The driver is loaded/unloaded when the ISO is mounted/unmounted.

Much easier to use IMHO than the current single database entry "Virtual CDRom Control Panel V2.1" in the "CD/DVD Emulation" category.

Please forgive me if I am asking a silly question.
Does OSFMount allow one to add files to an iso image?
(Would be nice to add files to live disks)

I haven't tried out OSFMount yet, but just tried WinCDEmu and it works quite well.

Tested with a .BIN file just now and it worked. XP complained that it detected new hardware and that you needed to restart the com, but it works. Just unmount the image and uninstall the driver after you're done.

I also have not tried Passmark ISO Mount yet.

But to add files to an ISO you could try Folder2Iso.

You could also just extract then re-archive the files with something else.

And you could mount a folder as a drive.

When I try Passmark ISO Mount I will try to remember to test editing an image file through it and to then comment here.

OSFMount added to https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2056. Please vote!

@Island Boy: No, OSFMount does not allow you to do that. It emulates a CDROM drive, not a CDR/W drive.

@ Island Boy -
According to a chart found at the link at the top of the page, OSFMount can "Read, Write, Mount as RAM drive, Extend, and Format" NRG (Nero disc image) files. I haven't tried this and I'm not sure I know what they mean by each of those terms, but on the face of it, it sounds like what you're wanting might be possible with NRGs--which you can then burn with portable ImgBurn.

That chart also means this may be the first RAM drive software listed on TPFC!

Updated to v3.0.1000, dropped 32-bit systems support and there is now second new driver osfdisk.sys for, I suppose:
v3.0.1000 changelog wrote: Mount a virtual disk using Physical Disk emulation, allowing the disk to be recognized by Windows Disk Management
...
Looks like that driver needs full installation cycle (there are usual companion files for such cases, osfdisk.inf, osfdisk.cat and WdfCoInstaller01009.dll) and cannot be used with just extracted program; also there are drivers exclusively for Windows 10 (in win10 folder).

All that needs new testings.
Can OSFMount still be used without that new driver? If not, can OSFMount be used without installation of that new driver, just loading/unloading it like before?

For then, linking entry to the previous version 2.0.1001
