Does not -need- installing, I used Universal Extractor to get the files out of the installer. It uses a ini file for its configuration. Checked through the registry, no entries there.

It used to require registration (which would invariably write to the registry or use other tactics). But as its no longer being updated, and released as unlimited freeware, its all good.

I had used the old freeware version ( 1.48 ) before they moved to shareware, and loved it. Sad to see it abandoned, but its a great little app.

Text based email viewer, can handle attachments, doesn't render html or show inline images (no web bugs!). Allows multiple accounts, allows SSL and encrypted passwords (APOP).

I used to use Mailwasher until I tried on another computer, and found out it wasn't portable and apparently used the registry. Bah!

any use or have used in the past hat can help me out a sec. what zip program did you use to open/extract attachments with. the program uses WinRAR on C drive bt default but i don't wanna install RAR. tried to use 7-Zip but with not luck.

wish this app was still being worked on I'd ask there.

Old topic update: an unofficial updated Popcorn v1.99.6 binary, dated from March 2016, was announced by user computernerd (see https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=932#comment29213) last year in a comment to Popcorn's entry.

That version -- whose source code is still available (see below) -- brings the following improvements:

• optional support for POP3-TLS (i.e. encrypted POP3 connections using TLS instead of SSL)
• an updated help file that can be invoked via menu and F1 key (in the main window)
• the former mailbox info function, now available via menu and F6 key.
