Is InfraRecorder Stealthy?

#1 Post by SamK »

Each time Infra Recorder starts a log entry is created C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\InfraRecorder\Logs\070626_u.log.
This is not removed when the application is closed.

The contents of the file:
InfraRecorder version 0.43.1.0 (x86)
Started: Tuesday, June 26 2007 16:17:35.
Versions: MSW = 5.1, IE = 6.0, CC = 6.0.

Does this affect its classification as Stealth?

To be stealth the application must not leave any trace on host computer. A app can be portable but not stealth. So the answer to your question is YES

This is my understanding also, but it does not remove the log file when InfraRecorder closes.
Even when the log-file is deleted manually it is recreated when IR is next started.
As this either persists, or is recreated it seems to fail the stealth test.

Hmmm, thanks for letting me know.

Seems like to prevent the log file from being written, you need to select to Options, Configuration.

Then under the "Advanced" tab, uncheck "Enable program log".

I will update the synopsis.
