NirSoft VideoCacheView v 1.02

Another goodie from NirSoft !

After watching a video in a Web site, you may want to save the video file into your local disk for playing it offline in the future. If the video file is stored in your browser's cache, this utility can help you to extract the video file from the cache and save it for watching it in the future.
It automatically scans the entire cache of Internet Explorer and Mozilla-based Web browsers (Including Firefox) and finds all video files that are currently stored in it. It allows you to easily copy the cached video files into another folder for playing/watching them in the future. If you have a movie player that is configured to play flv files, it also allows you to play the video directly from your browser's cache.

Strange...
Yesterday I updated the entry to v1.91, and it is in the database, but it didn't appear on the "latest" page.
Is that a bug or did I do sth wrong?

This is because the DB System only puts entries to the top if they have been updated less than twice. In VideoCacheView's case it was update 21/03, 14/04 & 21/04. Perhaps NirSoft is trying to get his applications to the top of the DB ;)

Thx, didn't know that. Although I remember a discussion on too frequent updates.
One more question: less than twice in what time period? Week? Month?

Month. If you posted today (22nd) then I don't think there would have been the problem. It would be interesting to know if this has stopped certain applications from grabbing the limelight more than others?

I don't know the exact time period, but I think it's surely less than a month
It's about 10 days or so.
See M3U Dropper for example: Last updated on Apr 11, 2011 ... todays (Apr 22, 2011) update brings it "on top".

Nice question :)

Nice question
I said this before ... that limiting how often an application is shown in the DB can deter people from updating the DB, because most people like to show in some way or another that they are contributing to TPFC.

I also think it was a handful (only 1) which sparked the question of limiting the amount of updates per application.

Another "nice" question: "How many updates did this "only 1" person for TPFC this year" :?:
I did 441 version updates so far this year (according to my counter)

F.Y.I
I tried this within Opera but no success :(

After furiously searching on Google on how to save video files watched on my computer, i found a way.

How to Save Opera Cached Flash Videos
1. Enter "About:Cache" into the address bar.
2. Opera will then display a list of items, search for the video you want by name,
click on it, and Opera will ask where you want to save it.

Note: this may work with other types of videos, but i haven't tried.

I couldn't find such a statistic anywhere. Or, do you create it yourself?

Checker tracks his/hers own updates! But if you want to know how many applications you have added to the DB then this is a different question, which can be answered here - http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... 563#p27563
