Current Version 5.0.0.37:

HKCU\Soft; HKLM\SOFT; User\AppData

If someone who has grasped the syntax of the launcher could help me in drafting of the .ini I' d be very happy; of course it's not the same as pushing a button.

I tested the program and found that it didn't really make a dramatic impact on day-to-day operations. DTaskManager seemed to have the same impact. I'm guessing Process Lasso is really for corralling resource-hogging apps, but I don't really have that issue.

I was also annoyed that I tried the "giveawayoftheday" thing and it still seemed to think it was the already free "lite" version.

Obviously you could do the "same" thing even with Power Menu, or with Prio ( excellent app ) with the default task manager, but I don' t think Bitsum is at the same level; in fact you pay from 20 to 40 dollars for a license and here it is explained why
http://www.bitsum.com/docs/pl/how_does_lasso_work.htm
If you note when you star the bat it runs two programs: ProcessLasso and the core engine.
(( An AutoIt expert would not consider this a "problem" in "the" .ini and he would probably say "Elementary, my dear Watson!"; as we know the past
http://yfrog.com/izonceuponj
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/5387/onceupon.jpg
but not the future! )).
Well, if you are running on W7 with 4GB of Ram, surely, you don't note any diffences between the above solutions.
If you have a seven or more years old PC you can note the diffencences as remarked in the comments of the giveaway.

( By the way, it' s very difficult to make ProcessLasso portable! ).
( Coming soon ( the .ini ), I hope )

Just checked back into this after a similar program was mentioned. It's now nagware with limitations after 30 days.

There is no portable version of Process Lasso offered for download any longer. How does one make it portable?

No. It's the same as before. It's always been nagware and the limitations they listed has only been re-written to make it sound more severe but it's pretty much the same as before.

Yeah can't seem to find the portable version anymore. I will send him an email later to ask him about it. In the mean time, try the attached files. Just put them into the same directory as the extracted files for Process Lasso and run _Start-ProcessLasso.bat. I haven't fully tested them yet with the newer versions but hopefully they work.

@Enternal
Some days ago there was a giveaway for Process Lasso version 8.9.8.10 and there was also a discount for the life-time personal license. I grabbed the free license (it seem that it works only with that exact version) but I haven't tested it yet. I saved your files and I will have a look at Process Lasso when I have time for tests. Thank you very much for taking your time to prepare and upload the archive.

Haha no problem! And yes it's a single version only. Though in the past, I did update past that single version a couple times and it continued to work for several versions. That's not guaranteed though so before you try it, definitely backup the original given version haha.

The company behind Process Lasso put out a program called CPUBalance to help mitigate resource hungry programs.

Image
CPUBalance is real-time CPU optimization software containing Process Lasso’s famous ProBalance algorithm. This demonstrable technology helps to retain system responsiveness during high CPU loads. Even if you have the perfectly tuned PC and well-behaved applications, our ProBalance algorithm can save you from a hard reset in a worst-case scenario.
Status: Untested

Softpedia is calling it freemium, but from what I can tell it's just freeware that presents a suggested donation amount.
CPUBalance Pro supports the continued independent innovation at Bitsum. Your patronage is critical! Thank you for your consideration.
