allTags - File manager

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

allTags - File manager

#1 Post by Netras »

I just released a new application - a file manager exclusively based on tags. There is a portable version on the website. If you guys like it, I would love to see an entry on portablefreeware.com

Website: https://alltags.net/

License: Freeware (MIT license)

Download 32 bit: https://alltags.net/releases/allTags%20 ... 032bit.zip
Download 64 bit: https://alltags.net/releases/allTags%20 ... 064bit.zip

The portable version keeps everything within the application directory. Nothing is written to the registry, nothing is sent to the cloud.
allTags was developed to manage large file sets efficiently. Time-consuming actions, like naming files and choosing folders, are replaced by flexible tagging operations.
With built-in support functions, allTags avoids inconsistencies and speeds up file description and retrieval. allTags is 100% free to use.

Notable features
  • Fast and more consistent file description with tags
    Tag suggestions and completion
Local application, allTags does not send your data to the cloud
Dynamically generated, tag-based folders and file names for working outside of allTags
    Import and export functions
    Tag management functions
Tag sorting by similarity for emphasizing differences
Direct file handling, allTags will open files with your prefered, local applications
Support for other types of content besides files (currently only URLs)
    File versioning and recovery functions

In case there is still interest in this application, there is a new update available. 1.1.0.0 has some new features, improvements and bug fixes. Links:

Interesting concept. 8)

It should be noted that AllTags UI is browser based -- as a screenshot would make evident immediately...

Also you might want to make clear the different versions available for download from the homepage, as I ended up downloading the installer first.

Tagging isn't not something I rely on, but I'm curious to see where this project leads.

Good point about the screenshot. :)

Since the application tries to address issues that mostly power users have (like dealing with 100k+ files), I am assuming some technical background.
But getting some of them to understand that their data is still locally managed is a challenge. :?

I thought the download-links were properly described - I will have another look at making them more clear.

Thanks for the feedback! :D
