Since there's not much going on in the realm of portable PGP freeware, I wanted to point out a way to at least decode PGP messages:

"BCTextEncoder is compatible with well known PGP utility. It means that it can decode messages encoded by PGP" (source: http://www.jetico.com/web_help/PDF/BCTextEncoder.pdf)

It's not clear whether or not it supports encoding (e.g. full correspondance exclusively via PGP).

I also need to point out at least one time that the the developers of this program to put out updates without a version number update. This is both annoying for sites like ours and it can be a security concern (it's not good to contact support and have to answer "what version are you using" with "I don't know").

No major updates here ... still a simple text encryption program that seems safe and easy to use. If you don't trust your current messaging/email service, this seems like a good option.



In light of still very limited number of public key-based tools out there, this might be a useful alternative with it's support for RSA-based X.509 public key use and creation. Supports PGP/GPG key decryption.

Performance

* Encoding text took about 10 seconds on a 5 year old Intel i5 machine. It's a little slower than I'd like for example in chat room exchanges, but not bad.
* Creation of an RSA key took about 45 seconds (after you get past the random mouse+keyboard prompt)

Wishlist:

* Clipboard monitor to automatically recognize and attempt to decode anything that starts with "-----BEGIN ENCODED MESSAGE-----"

Note that "Send encoded text via email" works only if you have a default mail program established on your machine. In options, you can automatically copy the encoded text to the clipboard.
