Hosts File Editor

#1 Post by webfork »

I've been looking for a really solid host file editor for quite some time and they all seem to be some stage of glorified text editor or some limited effort to imitate PeerBlock (see Hosts Block). This program could finally be the program I've been looking for.

Sites:
http://hostsfileseditor.weebly.com/
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/O ... inje.shtml

License: claims GPLv3 but I can't find the source (dev was contacted)

Portability: Untested but claims to be a noinstall program

Distributes a RAR and ZIP format, which I like.

Requires: XP and above, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0

Wishlist:

* Github site (or similar)
* A more unique name (there's another open project with the same name: https://github.com/scottlerch/HostsFileEditor and another with a similar name: http://www.amazify.com/windows-hosts-file-editor)

On a related note: as someone who hosts a lot of screenshots, I really need to know what tool he's using to get the screenshot view posted on the home page (on the bottom of the page, not the side). I've been looking for a good image presentation/slideshow viewer and that's just about perfect.
