Xetbox Hybrid browsers

#1 Post by shnbwmn »

Homepage: http://xetbox.com/ (indicates whether portable versions of programs are available)

Firefox Hybrid: http://xetbox.com/programs/internet/bro ... fox-hybrid
Chrome Hybrid: http://xetbox.com/programs/internet/bro ... ome-hybrid
Opera Hybrid: http://xetbox.com/programs/internet/bro ... era-hybrid
Firefox Hybrid is a portable compilation based on the Firefox browser. It does not contain any advertising modules and is free of third party components and utilities. It was designed for sophisticated users with a multiprofile browser use. All profiles can be launched simultaneously and each one has its specific uses as below:

1. Classic - an ordinary lightweight version of the ordinary browser.
2. Home - gets rid of annoying floating banners and teasers.
3. Hybrid - optimized version for enhanced surfing.
4. Safe - hides IP address and user agent. All traces of user are deleted after closing the program.

Firefox Hybrid is portable, can be archived and safely launched from any carrier and PC.
The description is similar for the other two.

Found this site and these "Hybrid" browsers by accident a while ago, forgot to post it here ... so here it is. Untested(!), however according to Xetbox:
Features
- Portable and can be launched from any carrier.
- Leave no traces after browsing.
Upon quick inspection they seem to be portable: Files > profiles stores preferences, extensions, bookmarks, session info, etc for each "mode" (Hybrid, Classic, Home, Safe).

Mozilla Trademark Policy wrote:If you're taking full advantage of the open-source nature of Mozilla's products and making significant functional changes, you may not redistribute the fruits of your labor under any Mozilla trademark, without Mozilla's prior written consent. For example, if the product you've modified is Firefox, you may not use Mozilla or Firefox, in whole or in part, in its name.
I hope they're compliant; I won't test this until I'm sure!

I wonder: what does "enhanced surfing" mean?
I hope they're compliant
This topic comes up often enough with all the various Firefox variants that I already have a possible answer for it.
