GuildFTPd Server
Re: GuildFTPd Server
Are you a user, fwgeek?
Not much info at the GuildFTPd site -- which appears to be mostly obsolete, with many dead links and latest news from around 2011.
GuildFTPd got a glowing 5 star review from Softpedia (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/S ... FTPd.shtml); however, the changelog there seems to imply that the latest release is from 2006...

Yeah, it looks like it is not developed anymore. But there are similar cases in this forum (XN Resource Editor - 2005 http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=407 ). The download link at the web site still works today.Midas wrote:Are you a user, fwgeek?

There is not a lot to say: It is a simple FTP server. Installer provides good documentation in help file.
NOTE For Vista and newer: If you want to install GuildFTPd or extract its files in Program Files folder you have to execute the installer as admin.
Re: GuildFTPd Server
True and there's a ton of great software on my computer from 5+ years ago, but I think the important difference here is that you wouldn't want a server that isn't frequently updated for anything but local network (not Internet-facing) usage. K-meleon for example is still a great browser, but it's too vulnerable.fwgeek wrote:Yeah, it looks like it is not developed anymore. But there are similar cases in this forum.

Yes, I agree... it is good for local network or tests.webfork wrote:True and there's a ton of great software on my computer from 5+ years ago, but I think the important difference here is that you wouldn't want a server that isn't frequently updated for anything but local network (not Internet-facing) usage. I also tried filezilla server portable but I didn't like its architecture. So for my PC the choice is GuildFTPd
