Visions of Chaos

#1 Post by JohnW »

Visions of Chaos is a very professional fractal generation program.
Arguably it is the best in its class - free or shareware
It is portable and probably stealth.

It's available from
http://softology.com.au/voc.htm

You will find that the site is very well organised with an interesting blog.
Just in passing, the author is helpful and amenable to comments.

Just to give a vague feeling I'll show a few pics
The intro screen is a blank canvas...

Just as a trial I picked Mode>Reaction-Diffusion>MultiScale Turing Patterns.

I was presented with some options ...

The selection then kicked off and I stopped it at this image ...

Summarising, if you're interested in fractals this is an absolute must.
If not - move on
BTW I'm not used to adding pics so if this doesn't work out - apologies in advance.

Thanks for the post. I've been looking around for generative graphic software like this for a while, and oddly enough this is the first time I've come across VoC. It will be interesting to see how it compares to Mandelbulb3D, Mandelbulber, Fragmentarium, JWildFire, Apophysis, Fraqtive, Qosmic, StructureSynth, Xaos, etc.

Edit: Wow! Just a cursory perusal of the "Mode" menu and I'm impressed. The Mandelbulb option alone has a wonderful amount of configuration details. Not to mention that it has animation capabilities and a nice fullscreen view. Definitely a keeper.

@shnbwmn
Your post implies that you know a reasonable amount about the subject so I will be interested in your opinions.
I have a copy of Mandelbulb3D but to be honest I find it heavy going.
