FileVoyager - file manager

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

@FileVoyager
Don't loose your faith in me, if you have any ;)
My faith in you increased with time, especially after you added back the classic tool-bar. ;) I suppose that my faith will increase even more if you fix this:

I also suggest a new sub-menu in View->Toolbars->Show or hide the Programs Bar (I don't know how it is called in FileVoyager)- there is "Close" button in it but I don't know how I can restore it if I close it.
FileVoyager wrote:
It's the Application Bar and, my bad! The option exists in the Ribbon, but I missed it in the Main menu...
To celebrate the new release I will add FileVoyager to the database (not you, the program ;)), I promise. So please be so kind to notify us when the new version is out.

Then your faith will grow!
ShowHideAppBar.png
Disclaimer: As of date of this post, this is not available yet.

And by the way, this is the changelog of the coming release:
+ New: New tools: Compare and Sync for files and folders
+ New: Video rotation detection. If video rotated, switch automatically to embedded VLC (because it supports auto-rotation)
+ New: Thumbs in Thumb Flow are now clickable
+ New: Possibility to put the display of the folder tabs on top or bottom
+ New: Added 'Close to tray' feature
+ New: It possible to use FileVoyager as an independant viewer using -FVViewer parameter. Syntax: {PathToFV}\FileVoyager.exe -FVViewer {PathOfFileToView}. Where PathToFV is the path of FileVoyager's folder, and {PathOfFileToView} is the path of the file, well... to view
~ Chg: Made 'Show Hide App Bar' available from the Classic UI's menu
- Chg: Disabled the theming of the shell's contextmenu as it's completely broken under Windows 10 and had too many bugs
- Chg: VLC codecs updated to 2.2.0
- Fix: Choice to show AppBar with 32x32 icons was not restored on restart
- Fix: Corrected a bug in the single-click for thumbnails. The last hovered item was selected even if mouse didn't last on it
- Fix: In the Colors options (preferences window), the preview of the color choices is restored
- Fix: In Viewer's Info Pane, the Rotation info of videos was not shown (must be hidden for non rotated video, but shown otherwise)

The "full portable" version is 29 megs. Uncompressed it's around 110 megs.

It launches http://www.filevoyager.com/thank-you-fo ... levoyager/ on first run.

@FileVoyager

Many thanks for the new version.

As I promised I added FileVoyager to the database.

If you don't like the screen-shot or the description, please provide your own.

I didn't have time to test the new version thoroughly but the comparison utility looks gorgeous:

Have you thought of releasing it as a separate, standalone tool?

I'm happy my creation is part of this collection! Thank you.

It's perfect!

Thx!

Yes. I thought about standalone parts when I noticed the success of the Viewer. The Comparison tools could be isolated also, indeed. But it's very modest compared to existing free and respectable comparison tools like Winmerge

Thanks @Midas for voting!

@FileVoyager
Do you have some ideas about the near future? What should be next? Perhaps integrated checksum calculator? Or you got tired of coding and need some rest? Any time I start FileVoyager and look at its classic tool-bar I recall your kindness (ribbons really depress me). ;)

Yes! Many ideas. Maybe too much. Coding is my personal therapy!
I’ve listed the features I’d like to implement in this page.
I wanted to conduct a poll on my blog to prioritize the major features from that list.
And while the poll is running, I wanted to develop a Duplicate Files Finder.
In that upcoming Duplicate Files Finder, checksum calculation is key, and I wanted to allow the user to choose the checksums algorithm.
So it makes sense to come up with Checksum Calculator in a release, and then the Duplicate Files Finder…
I think we have a deal!

Hello everybody,
I've released a new version, 16.11.26.
More info at http://www.filevoyager.com/2016/11/file ... -released/
But I don't see what's the procedure to announce the update at TPFC.
If someone can explain to me...
Regards.

Thanks for the new release! I have not tested it yet but I updated the database entry. As far as I know in order to be allowed to update FileVoyager database entry one needs to have 50 posts at the forum but I am not sure. Anyway, if you announce the update here at the forum I or someone else will update the database entry within a day so you do not have to worry. Regards.

Ok, that's fine.
I was just confused because there's this forum sub-category (the new submissions), as well as a category for software updates, where there's no thread about FV yet.
Anyway. I go to sleep. It's 3 AM here in Belgium ;P

Portable Freeware Update sub-forum is perhaps the rightest place but it is rarely used so if you post here it is fine, many developers use the main thread of their programs to notify about the updates. Have a good sleep (you deserve it :D) and a great Sunday.

Hello FileVoyager,

I'm not sure if you are already knowing but when moving the splitter in the middle it gets stuck after moving a right and left a bit.
I'm not sure but I think you calculate something while moving this splitter and this causes it to get stucked.
