Came across this program and didn't see it in the pfwc. Hadn't checked for registry changes. Nice little prog.

New version of this came out today, looks like there is no more a portable version? And this latest one also has this annoying nagging donate bar across the top that can't be removed it seems.

Their website also looks gutted, removal of forums, changelog page, etc. Think it's time I start looking for a replacement for this lovely program and the direction it seems to be going does not look good.

Actually it came out on April 12th, but there was (and still is) no announcement of the fact.
I'm not particularly familiar with System Explorer's official website (was there a 'portable' download there before?) but PortableApps.com is aware of the new version (v7.1.0), and will be packaging up the new version of System Explorer for a new release of System Explorer Portable in the near future.

Yes, there is only installer now, even uniextracted it open homepage on first start. Also no previous versions, so entry now just dead.

System Explorer 7.1.0 came out April 11th. At that time, the website was changed (discovered courtesy of the WayBack Machine) and the portable zip version was removed. Version 7.1.0 comes as an installer only. The files can be extracted with the current release of Universal Extractor and exist within the {app} directory of the extracted files. 7-Zip can not extracted the files. The app still works in portable mode as it did before as long as a config.ini is included in the directory alongside SystemExplorer.exe. One other change is that the app now requires admin rights in portable mode otherwise the service will fail to start and it will show an error that it must be reinstalled.

System Explorer Portable 7.1.0 is available from the app homepage and will work portably out of the box as before.

Anyway to remove that terrible looking green bar that asks for donations? Even if you donate it still is going to be their on next load, something that annoying is enough for me to never upgrade from 7.0 and look for an alternative.

That's an option or we can switch to the Uniextract method (thanks Haller). What works best?

I think PA version is simple for users.
If uniexract, you need to create config.ini file. Just blank file? Or with some content? Is it still will be stealth? That's need more testings

Why do you need to search for alternatives if you don't like the latest version? Upgrade is not obligatory. I am still using version 5.9.5.5261 and I am happy with it.
