Although in early stage of development (current version- 0.5.2.1307 RC), Notes Keeper offers a large number of features, I will list some of them:
- Multiple databases
- Full-featured RTF editor
- Organizing of notes into groups and tags
- Start with Windows
- Minimize to tray/Close to tray
- Start minimized
- Remembering of desktop position
- Transparency
- Full-screen
- Stay on top
- Lock note
- Password protection of notes
- Auto-save
- Export of notes (including batch-export)
- Search
- Web search (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Wikipedia, OneLook)
- Insertion of Files/Tables/Images
- Insertion of Date/Time
- Opening of links with system default browser/user-defined browser
- Drag&Drop (the user can directly drag and drop selected text, URls and images from browser directly into Notes Keeper

I will insert some screen-shots of Notes Keeper:

Notes Keeper main window:

A note created by Notes Keeper:

A note with inserted image:

The developer of Notes Keeper is very helpful, responsive and open to suggestions.

I find Notes Keeper very useful and promising program for taking notes.

Yes, you are right, I forgot to mention that Notes Keeper require .NET 4. Anyway, this won't be a problem for those who have Windows 7/8/8.1 since .NET is embedded in these versions of Windows.

It's worth noting that while .NET 3.5 is pre-bundled with Windows 7 and automatically updated to with Windows Vista, .NET 4.0 is not an automatic update for many users. It's a recommended but not critical update. So, if whoever configured Windows set it for critical only, that machine won't get .NET 4.0 unless an admin goes in and manually installs it. I've seen many machines with critical only and many with critical and recommended.

Thanks for the breakdown. I've been wondering about the state of minimum dotNET on Win7.

Had some issues with images, tables, and indentation kept me from testing this very far but a few quick notes:

Writes settings to: Notes Keeper.config
Path portability: looks suspect as the link to the database (nkdb) file was hard linked (c:\portable rather than ..\portable)

Tested v.1.0.1
MD5: 29EBD3342C090DECBD24FE6ADDF782D4
SHA-1: C0EEC131C0BF0508D6DDBD94C3867160EAFD72FF
VirusTotal Analysis (totally clean)

Hi and welcome to the forums. If I come back to the program, I'll try to get you some details around the issues I mentioned above but as it stands I don't have a machine with dotNET 4.0 installed to do testing with.

Thanks for that ... my system now has the requisite dotNET versions so I could test it out ...

Note that you need a minimum 1200px screen width to use this program. It doesn't shrink below that size.

As you can tell from the screenshots, it has lots of great rich text editor tools and lets you tag, search, and favorite notes. You can drag-and-drop items into categories and subcategories, and you can even secure (encrypt) notes internally. The program even does versioning via an available full database backup

Issues:
* Creating a new note using a file (PDF) crashes the program

Wishlist
* Nested bullets
* Autosave,* Ability to save individual notes - right now you can send as an email attachment and just save the attachment (RTF format), but that's a lot of extra steps.
* Ability to batch export multiple notes
* Save to formats beyond just RTF (which is fine for most things but very large with images)
* Ability to resize images uniformly (e.g. top and bottom reduced by the same percentage)
