Eagleget, a freeware download manager and accelerator I haven't seen mentioned here at TPFC...
http://www.eagleget.com/features/ author wrote:EagleGet is a free universal download accelerator. EagleGet not only support HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, MMS and RTSP protocol, but also downloads video from popular online video websites. Comparing to the integrated downloader in your web browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE and Opera), the dedicated downloader could increase download by implementing up to 32 threads for each download task, which could speed up your download by up to 6 times.

EagleGet current version is 1.1.0.7 stable, but you can download a natively portable (untested!) v1.1.0.3 at http://www.eagleget.com/download/.

Quickly tested "EagleGet v1.1.0.3 portable"

Need to uncheck: "Start with Windows" + " Browser Integration" (on by default)
Auto Update is on, there is no option to disable this. Maybe opening / editing Setting.dat offers a solution???
Settings: \eagleget_portable\Eagleget\UserData
Also writes to the registry at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EagleGet]
"FirstInst"=dword:xxxxxx
"UpdateTime"=dword:xxxxxx

Great job. Thanks. 8)

Upon checking, I noticed that, in Eagleget Portable v1.1.7.4, browser integration is achieved via use of the newly "/installPortable" and "/uninstallPortable" command line parameters -- a rather welcome feature for further tweaking. Moreover, Firefox and Chrome browser extensions are present in the 'addon' subfolder... 8)

BTW, uncompressed disk cost is exactly 10 MB.

EDIT: Eagleget Portable is currently v1.1.7.8 -- all my attempts to download the portable package yielded only v1.1.7.6, though... :|

Portable settings are kept at 'Eagleget\UserData' sub-folder; the Firefox addon has been updated, and there's now an option to disable auto-checking for updates in the 'Configuration | Notification' dialog.
What’s new in EagleGet Portable 1.1.7.8?
[*] Optimized the download algorithm to reduce the abort when ‘Max number of threads’ is 32.
[*] Added the feature to display the video download button on the lower left corner of browser window when the sniffer could not parse and find the video player.
[*] Fixed the bug of the encoding of ‘New Download’ when batch downloading.
[*] Fixed the bug that EagleGet incorrectly starts to download videos in radiojavan.com.
[*] Add a help link on the main window to help user properly integrate EagleGet with browsers.
[*] Optimized the download speed to fix the abort problem (Server exceeded maximum retries on many tasks.)
[*] Fixed the bug that cant download file with IE in mediafire.com.
[*] Fixed some bug VideoSniffer.

Thanks for adding. I made a few suggested edits that hopefully make sense.

I keep confusing this with Eagle Mode. :)

If using EagleGet with the 64 bits version of Firefox (or derivatives) please see the note I posted at http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.p ... mment25900...

EDIT: apparently EagleGet's transition from v1.x to 2.x was not without bumps... http://forum.eagleget.com/viewtopic.php ... 874#p10874.

For anyone interested, EagleGet portable v1.1.8.2 cans still be downloaded from http://admin.eagleget.com/latest/eagleget_portable.zip.

There's some discussion in the entry from users joe and rbon surrounding disabling an auto-update check that makes the program more stealth. I'd like to add something to the extract process unless someone objects.

@webfork,
I have tried to add to unzipped archive the file 'portable.dat', but EagleGet creates alike an entry in the Registry.
So, if anyone is interested, I add an (unofficial) yaP launcher for make EagleGet Portable really portable.
You can download the launcher from this link (removed)

I got "eagleGet" and "egGetSvc" services installed. Run in admin mode, Win7.

@tproli
If you delete 'egGetSvc' service Eagleget won't remember the list of downloaded files.
