WinDjView

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

WinDjView 0.5

#1 Post by thornahawk »

Looking around the database, it seems no-one has submitted a portable DjVu reader. Can you guys please take a look at WinDjView? It looks portable to me, and I have been able to use it without a hitch on my USB drive.

Thanks!

It stores all of its settings in the registry "HKCU\Software\Andrew Zhezherun\WinDjView\". That makes it non-stealth but not necessarily non-portable (settings aren't portable). Thanks for the find, I've been looking for something like this for a while and will be adding it to my USB drive.

Support for saving settings in an .ini file will be added in the next version of WinDjView.

When I open a .djvu document using version 1.0.1.0, my cpu usage goes up to 100% and stays there until I close the document.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

PA released 2.0.1
http://portableapps.com/news/2012-09-11 ... 1-released

Softpedia gave it a good review and indicated there's been some 64-bit enhancements:

WinDjView

#8 Post by Midas »

Old topic update: WinDjView v2.1 is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/windjvi ... jView/2.1/ (no changelog).
 • http://windjview.sourceforge.net/ author wrote:WinDjView is a fast, compact and powerful DjVu viewer for Windows with tabbed interface, continuous scrolling and advanced printing options. It uses the free DjVuLibre library to decode DjVu documents. DjVu is a web-centric format and software platform for distributing documents and images.

WinDjView homepage is at http://windjview.sourceforge.net/, but also no info there. Only an installer package is available for download at the URL above, so I still assume it's not natively portable...

BTW, a Djvu viewer discussion exists at http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... .phpt=7558 and a yaP launcher config can be had from http://rolandtoth.hu/yaP/configs/WinDjView.ini; an old JPE launcher topic is also available at http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... php?t=4126 ...

Nah, I messed around with it briefly but didn't make much headway at least via the Uniextract method. PA's got a version: http://portableapps.com/apps/office/windjview_portable

Edit: Splitting and re-merging with the other WinDjView thread.

Edit2: There's some nice features built into this. I especially like the invert colors, which is great for printing mostly darkly colored (or black) documents that can otherwise zap a printer cartage. Just make sure to use the "use adjustments for printing". There are also brightness/contrast/gamma controls and a bookmark function.

So there's the changelog I missed -- thanks for filling that in, smaragdus. :)

BTW, notable related programs at TPFC are DjVuToy (http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... hp?t=16880), a toolkit to merge, split and analyze DjVu files; the not entirely portable DjVuLibre (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1946), a viewer with PDF conversion capabilities; and Pdf To Djvu GUI (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1551), the conversion utility whose official topic sprouted the update above...

STDU Viewer (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2045) and Sumatra PDF (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1193) also have DjVu capability; and for a discussion concerning DjVu viewers and format, check http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... php?t=7558 ...
