Easy Clipboard Organizer (ECO)

#1 Post by I am Baas »

Easy Clipboard Organizer is an open, extendable and eye candy clipboard manager. You can browse history of copied texts and files, translate selected text, simultaneously paste files from different directories or save part of the screen to clipboard or file. By using plugins and themes you can customize the functionality and appearance to your needs.

Enjoyed testing this ... a program that looks like it's in the middle of development with some great bits as well as some incomplete bits. Think the author is trying to make an extensible desktop accessory starting with a clipboard function.
  • 1. The program is, at it's heart, a beautiful but dead simple clipboard recorder. It only remembers a set number (default 10) entries and you have to select an item from the menu, THEN paste rather than a direct paste to your active application.

    2. There are a lot of cool sounding plugins underneath, many of them disabled by default, including a directory lister, screencap, and more.

    3. One plugin that is enabled is a translation tool for (I think) English to Polish. Although the interface is beautiful, I turned this off.
The only possible negative I see is the WinXP memory test stats:
  • RAM: 22.8 megs
    Disk: 26.8 megs
I think 22 megs is a little high for a clipboard recorder when Clipcube takes up 8.4 and Ditto takes up 5.5. That said, if you have plenty of RAM, this is meaningless and as development progresses and the plugins increase, that extra resource usage could be completely worth it.
