Ask for portability?

Hi,
i would like to know if its ok to ask if an applikation is portable or not.
I see a lot software but i´m not the "supercrack" who is sure that an
application dont write to the registry.
Often i know that an app is working, if you just move the files from one to another PC, but if it leave traces on the host, im totaly unsure.
Maybe one of you could answer me if "winscp" is portable or not
->http://winscp.net/eng/docs/config
I read that you have the choice to store your settings in the registry or an .ini file, but i´m not sure that it dont write some settings to the registry anyway.

I like this app but im not sure if it fits your high standards.

Another question, i know i´ve seen it, but i cant find the list of the known non-portable apps anymore.

best regards,
me

A search for "winscp" should show you it is already listed in the database.

But im searched yesterday 2 times for it and got no results, maybe i wrote it wrong...
...sorry.

I still dont know where to find the list of non-portable apps.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

best regards,
me again

Non-portable apps can be found by searching for them. View http://www.portablefreeware.com/?q=CrapCleaner&m=Search for an example of what this looks like.

A pre-configured portable bundle of Notepad2 + WinSCP + portaPuTTY. Written because I did not like the way either OTBSoft or John Haller's versions were written.

Uses an App/Data directory split, if the Data folder is accidentally deleted the default portable settings will be rewritten into it.

Regarding Stealth, WinSCP + Notepad2 are both advertised as stealth in the collection, but I am unsure of portaPuTTY. It is written so it does not talk to the registry, but I haven't RegShot'ed it. Assuming portaPuTTY is written the way it should have been done, then WinSCPP is stealth.

Notepad2 (used rather than the WinSCP internal editor) and WinSCP are pre-configured to use relative paths (rather than some Portable Wrappers which inject the current drive letter before running), so will work regardless of the drive letter they are run from.

I am looking for testers for this program, as I've been focusing on other programs as late I have slightly neglected this one. That's why I am releasing it publicly now to try and get feedback. :)

Is anyone aware if Pageant, which is bundled with PuTTYPortable on PortableApps.com, is by itself portable?

Since it doesn't get installed with KiTTYPortable only PuTTYPortable, and I'd like to use KiTTY with WinSCP instead of PuTTY but wasn't sure if the binary is portable per se.

I know for example the PuttyGen binary is portable though, which can be added to WinSCP's App>winscp directory to enable it in WinSCP's Tools menu (which is how I assume Pageant can be added, since per the WinSCP docs it expects it to be in the Tools menu).
