BootSafe - Makes rebooting in Safe Mode a Snap!

#1 Post by EdNetman »

I've run this from my flash drive, but I have never tested it to see if there are any latent registry entries. It is helpful when you are working on a machine and your ADD kicks in before you get to hit the F8 key.

Bootsafe test:

Just running the program doesn't create any files or change the registry. Not sure how to test this after that.

I'm not sure what the program is actually doing. There were a long list of changes to the system after I rebooted in a safe mode, but I couldn't tell what changes the program made and what changes the system made. In other words, I have no idea if the program is "registry green" because the very process the program follows makes lots of registry changes.

I suppose I could reboot into the various "safe modes" and then compare it with when BootSafe boots them into safe modes, but that's a LOT of work.

If the program would make the changes and then let me reboot later when I wanted, this would be much easier to test. As it stands, you set one and then its REBOOT NOW.

Old topic update: I'm betting this is the same BootSafe utility currently available from FoolishIT at http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/bootsafe/...

  • Well, you win some, then loose some -- names matched and that Superadblocker.com link was moot... but hey, there's no such thing as too many options, is there?
