Are you sure? Would you please provide sources?

If this is true and Evgeniy is no longer among us in this world,

Rest in peace, Zhenya!

And may he linger in the memories of the living -- I know he will in mine, because I'm deeply indebted to him for having used his work for such a long time.

Two days ago I went looking around for the reason his Universal Extractor wasn't getting any updates anymore... to no avail.

Is there a mirror where one can get the latest update of Gora's version? Gora's place (Here lives gora!) is no more (his web-site at the Internet Archive and his add-ons page).

Agreed. The world owes a debt to a great many freeware developers like Gora. I hope someone in his life knows what he was up to with that project and that he was giving his time and energy for free.

Very unfortunate news indeed. I am thankful for all he had unselfishly contributed to the freeware community.

Like others on this thread I discovered the news when trying to update.
I can only echo the sentiments expressed; I also owe him a debt of gratitude.
Thanks also to @Userfriendly for the links.
Does the existence of these links mean that someone is providing updates?
Or ultimately should I switch to the Koros version?

Download mirrors is just there for posterity. It will never be updated again unfortunately as the source code is unavailable. Only thing anyone can do is update 7z, innounp, triddefs.trd, and other binaries. No other fixes or features can be added to gora's version.

Koros and Bioruebe's versions are different enough that its handy to have them both.

I've been pretty happy with the Bioruebe version ... the developer has been responsive, the project is active on Github, and it seems to be adding features over time.
