Self Note

#1 Post by I am Baas »

Self Note is a self contained note program. Everything added to the note is saved in the EXE file and encrypted wih 256 bit RSA_AES encryption.
Self Note [Tabs] - Same as Self Note but supports tabs allowing better organization of notes.

Thanks, webfork. The developer has a new Website (and a few other apps, not all portable) @ http://starpunch.net/software.html

Using Win 8/64bit it doesn't work for me, the changed and encrypted exe isn't updated, it does create two files - a batch file and tmp file

Code: Select all

killme.bat
$235233040315$.tmp
if I rename the random tmp to the original exe it works. I'll stick with fsekrit http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=784 which hasn't failed me yet. I do like the tabs in Self Note though.

Self Note at version 5.6.0.0, change log:
Update Info

@v5.6.0.0 - Wednesday, 11:10 AM 4/5/2015
[Added] - Added menu option to add to windows Send To menu item

@v5.0.0.0 - Sunday, 10:06 AM 4/26/2015
[Changed] - Changed the AES encryption to a much faster type of x'oring encryption. It is not high grade security but it is much faster to encrypt/decrypt and can handle a larger amount of text.
[Added] - Ability to edit text in external editor
[Added] - Pressing Alt X exports current tab to <Tab Name>.txt in current folder w/o prompt unless file already exists. If tab is Default then the name of the EXE is used.
[Updated/Added] - Export w/Dialog allows you to export current tab to a text file with dialog prompt.
[Added] - Opening a text file with a Self Note EXE imports file to a new tab
[Changed] - Drag and drop file on to open Self Note imports to a new tab.

@v4.0.0.7 - Sunday, 10:15 AM 7/14/2013
[Fixed] - Bug when editing and switching tabs.

@v4.0.0.6 - Wednesday, July 3, 2013
[Changed] - Middle button click adjustment
[Changed] - About dialog to go ro blog address

@v4.0.0.5 - Saturday, June 6, 2013
[Fixed] - Middle button click crash
[Fixed/Removed] - Custom right-click menu. Now just has the normal right-click context menu. Custom functions are now just accessed with the top menu.

@v4.0.0.4 - Friday, June 6, 2013
[Changed]Open URL/Search - Now can use middle mouse button.

@v4.0.0.1 - Friday, June 6, 2013
[Added] Word wrap - Based on Windows Notepad
[Added] Font - Uses same font as Windows Notepad. To change the Self Note font, change the font in Notepad.
Done so no other registry setting are added for Self Note alone.

@v3.3.0.0 - Sunday, November 4, 2012
[Added] Option to make note Read-Only
[Update] Open new Self-Note after it is created
For me it works (on Windows 8) but it lacks too many features to be useful for me.
