#1 Post by plastique »

Rename Master is a FREE utility for renaming large groups of files with a few clicks.
This utility will add, remove, or replace parts of the filename with ease and also supports renaming via file properties, MP3 tags, JPEG JFIF and EXIF tags. Batch renaming that's simple to use, yet still very powerful.

Features:
- Intelligent number sorting
- JPEG/MP3 tag support and many more Meta-Variables
- Auto-Preview support
- "Scipts" to save commonly used renaming options
- [*] and [?] command prompt style wildcards for replacing and remove options
- "Undo" button so a renaming operation can be rolled back
- Floating thumbnail window for viewing pictures and optional thumbnail file list view
- Optional Explorer integration for right-clicking on folders or using "Send To"

Written in Delphi 6 - no install program is needed.

Already in the database, though there seems to be a new version available, which I will update soon.

It writes one setting in the registry.
When you choose the option to add an entry to the right click menu it adds following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell\RenameMaster]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell\RenameMaster\command]
@="C:\\Portable\\Rename Master\\RenameMaster.exe "%1""

It is sad to say but new interface is awful. It takes too much space.
Personally I will stay with 2.7.6 version.

Old thread update

Came back to this program today after a long hiatus and really like the updates. Has some of the same step-by-step logic that was built into Renamer, albeit a little less elegant (but appears to have more options and is no limits)

- Includes Metadata viewer for JPEG, Video, and MP3s (and editor but I couldn't seem to figure that one out)
- Thumbnail view for images
- Even allows the generation of batch files for larger or more frequent renaming operations (use with caution)

The "save script" icon is an old 5.25 black floppy which was a nice touch. :)
