Hi,
I was about to submit it here around two weeks back but in my tests it kept on crashing almost everytime, especially when trying to open files.
Did anybody experienced the same problem and any solutions found.
Thanks.

Old thread update: nothing new, but since this is the indicated official topic for
SMPlayer (currently v0.8.6;
http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1358), a pointer to the information included in
mplayer2's topic might be relevant -- if interested, see
http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... hp?t=10344.
Also of note is the address of
SMPlayer own user forum, at
http://forum.smplayer.info/.

Recent discussion of VLC made me look SMPlayer up again and I was really pleased with some of the new features. Entry and screenshot have been expanded and updated.

A
v14.9.0 (for 32-bit only) is available.
Changelog:
- Fix for Youtube.
- New option to shut down the computer when playback has finished.
- The themes and skin icons are loaded from resource files (*.rcc).
- New fix for searching subtitles from opensubtitles.org that should return more results.

Thanks for that. Tested it out a bit and it works well. Includes a Youtube download ("record") function that works with a variety of quality levels and supports both MP4 and WEBM formats.
The Youtube player looked a bit on in some of the smaller screens but full screen it was as good as standard Youtube. Easier and faster navigation and seems to disable adverts (although I'm one of those who doesn't mind the ads). Great proggie.

Has anyone tested the stealthiness of the native portable build?

That appears to be linking to an older version that what we're linking to in the entry. I don't understand what that page is for.

Youtube browser is no longer present by default in SMPlayer. It has been pushed to a separate tool called SMTube that can be integrated with SMPlayer:
http://smtube.sourceforge.net/index.php
Unfortunately in testing, this was not really ready for prime time. I suspect either the extract process has some bug or the portable version (PA and natively portable) is behind the main release. Backing up to the old version gives an error message.
Users might give this some time for the dust to settle.
