The program is a little bulky for a simple RSS reader (28 megs of RAM). But very pretty, quick, and easy to use.

I've got exactly the same impression.
As an aside note, it seems to me that stand alone RSS readers are somehow old fashioned. If I remember correctly, there's only one in the database that is still under active development.

Although other users don't regard it as favorably, I was recently surprised by how nimble, effective and useful Abilon seems to be in the that category...

Personally, my favorite rss reader is Firefox with Liveclick addon but development on it has been slow and current nightlies breaks compatibility with it (again). So just in case Liveclick stops working permanently, I've been looking for portable standalone replacements. I'm leaning towards GreatNews, it's full featured and fast.

Tried QuiteRSS and it looks nice but it seems a little large at 40MB relative to its features. I imported my opml with 150 feeds and the gui was unresponsive a couple minutes while it tried to update all the feeds. GreatNews on the other hand was lightning quick. Kinda weird when its advertized to be "Quite fast". So far only GreatNews, OwlRSS, and FeedDemon are the one's I tested that can handle hundreds of feeds smoothly.

However since it looks like QuiteRSS is being actively developed, I'll keep track of it because I like how it looks.

Version 0.11.0 is slower than version 0.10.3. Especially if you are importing a lot of news feeds, the program may not for long die away. In version 0.11.0 has been a lot of changes. In version 0.11.1 will be many changes and she will work much faster, even faster than version 0.10.3.

Haven't tried this yet, but it looks promising. I prefer stand-alone RSS readers and currently use GreatNews, which is portable, fast and light. I also use RSSOwl which is great, but it isn't portable.

Quickly tested this and found the same. Imported over 300 feeds and the CPU was at 94% with memory about 30MB. Was unable to do anything on the PC for several minutes. I tried to delete a group of feeds and found it wasn't possible from the interface, although single feeds can be deleted. The inability to delete feed groups alone is reason enough to not use this. Also, this app is really large compared to other RSS readers; even non-portable ones.

0.13.3 is out, but didn't see anything in the changelog that addressed TP109's performance issue. Still, it's nice to see active development on a good RSS reader.
