Zimbra Desktop - email client

#1 Post by webfork »

It's been discussed on the forums before, but Zimbra recently put out an update yesterday for the first time in quite a while (changelog). It's not portable but because I had these unreasonably high hopes for the program years ago I went ahead and did some digging.

This program has been juggled by various companies going back to 2005 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbra) but there's a chance that it's new home with Synacor might mean it can finally flourish: Synacor Press Release on Zimbra.

The topic of portability appears to have come up 7 years ago, but didn't seem possible: https://forums.zimbra.org/viewtopic.php?t=51920

More recently someone did try using JPortable, but even that looks like it didn't go well: https://forums.zimbra.org/viewtopic.php ... 2&p=274949

Very brief discussion on PA back in '09: https://portableapps.com/node/17914
