Claims portability. However ...

Tested (x64): Not Portable

AppData\Roaming\etcher (don't know about registry)

Notes:
  • Built w/ Electron.
  • A bit slow to start up ...
  • ~ 80Mb download | ~ 230Mb uncompressed
  • Supported images: zip, etch, gz, bz2, xz, img, iso, dsk, hddimg, raw
  • There was a Github issue which asked for a portable version, but the discussion never went further than creating a no-install build.

Great suggestion. I can imagine quite a few uses for this.

What makes you say that? Just because it's increasingly common?

And bloated... just like back in the day when I had to download a hundred megabyte framework only to get a basic text editor working, for instance. But, hey, to each his own. :|

Agreed. I don't quite understand why a simple function of burning program eats up 208M on Mac. Anyone knows which library it builds upon?

p.s I am using ISO Geeker to burn ISO to USB.

Etcher v1.5.35 released (changelog at github.com/balena-io/etcher/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md).

Funnily enough... :|
v1.5.35 (2019-05-10)

Downgrade electron 4.1.5 -> 3.1.9

Flash OS images to SD cards & USB drives, safely and easily.

Portable Download:

Update: Doesn't seem to be very portable
AppData/Roaming/balena-etcher/*

Anything Electron/Chrome based won't be fully portable. It's by design and it has been noted before here in the forums.

No problem. Thanks for merging. I did do a search beforehand, but was searching for balenaEtcher, not etcher, so it found nothing.
