3RVX (DotNET sound volume control)

#1 Post by Midas »

It's a shame really, that 3RVX v2.5 requires DotNET v2.0 and saves settings to '%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\matt.malensek.net', because in its tiny 2MB folder footprint it packs a well designed OSD sound control that (works in XP, ;)) is skinnable, supports multiple monitors, is hotkey configurable, and can even interact with custom sound mixers.

3RVX is OSS, downloadable in a MSI package and easily extracted with LessMSI or jsMSIx. A beta version for the C++ 3RVX v3.0 is also available from the homepage (changelog at http://github.com/malensek/3RVX/blob/ma ... ANGELOG.md; I didn't test this Beta 4, but it's declared buggy, so YMMV).

While the latest versions of Windows do have a built-in OSD, it is relatively simple. That’s where 3RVX comes in: it’s a highly customizable service that provides an on-screen display, hotkey controls, tray notifications, and more.
