Grabber - image downloader

#1 Post by webfork »

This sounded great on Softpedia but this pulls from only a few sites on a narrow, non-PG topic, so I quit testing midway through. As it's open source, hopefully someone can take this and put together something that just uses different boards since the interface works well.

Softpedia:

License: Apache 2.0

Test results: Not portable (so far)

Sofpedia does not list the latest version, download from http://www.bionus.fr.cr/imgbrd-grabber/downloads.html

Uniextract worked for me.

Btw, it's open source... see http://www.bionus.fr.cr/imgbrd-grabber/source.html

No worries. The installer was build with Inno Setup... maybe you need to update the Inno Setup Unpacker file in the Universal Extractor's "bin" folder?

I'm guessing this could be used for forum threads, too? Would be more useful to me that way, especially if it could exclude images below a certain filesize or dimension (filtering out such things as site assets and avatars).

Yes, with some modification. However, it looks like it's more than just modifying some config files. The websites appeared to be built into the program rather than just reading it off some included config file. I think you'd have to dig into the code a little.

Old thread update: update is out for this (v4.0.5) ... still seems to just focus on Anime sites.

Doesn't look like there's any change in portability.

Update: I'm pleased to see this is still in development at v 7.1.0. Notable features:

Allow to automatically download monitored favorites (precursor of #1620)
Apply the per-source simultaneous downloads setting
Add download queue for manual and background image downloads (issue #1627)
Store cookies between sessions to prevent logging in every startup
Store OAuth2 refresh token and auto-refresh on expiration or startup

Update: came back to this to test the Portable version steps https://bionus.github.io/imgbrd-grabber ... rsion.html but the installer got stuck on the downloader and wouldn't skip the Visual C++ redistribution download. I was able to use Uniextract2 with some success, but the program would not launch.

Update 2: Came back to this and tried the install-copy-uninstall trick but it doesn't work outside the Program Files directory. Definitely not portable.

NOTE/CAUTION: The current program version 7.3.2 doesn't just work with NSFW image services (as many image downloading tools) but defaults to them.

Grabber is still seeing updates but not really interested in testing portability status yet again so I went digging.

Two alternative programs I came across that do something similar:
All of the above list functionality with a long list of both standard image sharing as well as NSFW websites. I'd avoid running these on a work machine.
