Machete Video Editor Light

Machete Video Editor Lite is a free version of our video editor Machete. Similar to Machete, the Lite edition is designed for quick and simple "slicing" of your video files: you can delete unnecessary fragments (e.g. cut out commercials), copy, move, mix and save individual pieces.
The following editing operations are available:
- cut, copy, delete and paste fragments of video files
- save video fragments as separate files
- insert one video file into another file of the same format
Version tested: 3.8
Saves settings in AppData and the registry.

It's an impressive small app! Great help for me!
My camera records in AVCHD format (full hd). I'm using Freemake Video Converter to convert my .mts files in .avi using H.263 container. Machete works fine with the resulting .avi files and it's very fast because it does not re-encode them.

JauntePE works fine with it.

P.S. if anyone knows of a portable video editor that can deal with avchd files directly or files using modern containers (H.264 etc.), please share!

Read this:

Then use MKVToolnix "portable version" to slit video as need. (Run mmg.exe)

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix

"portable version" http://www.videohelp.com/download/mkvto ... e-5.4.0.7z

I did not try the above myself but I use MKVtoolnix to split video & audio files all the time.

I know this is a very old topic but I couldn't find any settings saved besides a recent file list saved to HKU\current\software\MacheteSoft. Do you recall what it wrote to AppData?

Got a new machine and don't have access to my testing setup, but my old notes say that it writes MacheteLiteSettings.xml and MacheteLiteSettings.xml.bak in AppData and MacheteSoft empty registry branch in HKCU.

Verified. I ask because it looks like the settings are very basic window settings to MacheteLiteSettings.xml.bak and MacheteLiteSettings.xml. the HKU\..\Software\MacheteSoft\Machete settings are just a recent file list. This is definitely on the edge of what would be considered portable.
