I'm thinking there might be a few more RC's before the Stable release, so I'll keep checking http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/ in the next couple of days :)

opera had 2 rc's in one day! 3 rc releases in 2 days. overall, they had 8 releases in the last 4 days!someone's in a hurry...
also, Firefox lately released v.5, about three months after v.4 was out and is planning to release v.6 in about 2 months, part of it's new, shorter development cycle. is it my idea, or Google has managed to get everyone anxious with it's super-fast chrome releases?

Obviously there is some impact of the Google version number policy. Firefox' and Opera's developers might think that their products will be regarded as "outdated" if they don't keep up with the "fast development pace" of Chrome. Judging a browser by the pace of its version numbering is quite a dumb thing, but marketing (and it is marketing behind the version number rally) often targets peoples' dumbness. I am asking myself how it will look when the version numbers reach heights like "Ver. 83.0.0.1007" or "Ver. 123" or something like these.

Anyhow, I think the Opera guys want to release the final before the 1st of July or at least as fast as possible after the release of Firefox 5.

@guinness
Where exactly do you find the latest RCs at http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/ ? The latest I saw at that location was a beta. BTW, congrats to your 2000+. "We are not worthy!" :-D

The ftp is only for Beta's (plus the odd RC) and Final versions. If you navigate to the folder 11.50b1 you will see this is the Beta they released in May.

Oh, thanks :D

Yeah, funny isn't it? The RC's are coming out as if there were no tomorrow. Has anybody heard anything about a prophecy, a Mayan Calendar a matching verse of Nostradamus or something similar?

It's Release Wars nowadays :)

Probably they interpret RCs as Release Competition :)

Hey guys, guess what? A new day a new RC!!

We are currently at 11.50.1074 RC5.

What a relief! As I did not see a new RC early in the morning, I begun to feel uneasy. Trembling hands, sweat and some general unrest. The usual symptoms I guess.

Only one problem I've found is when the password manager shows the input box isn't focused so I have to hit tab first and then enter the password. But I reckon RC 6 will be the Final :D

I really hope that RC6 will be the final. I mean at a certain point it becomes ridiculous when one RC follows the other with no final in sight. An RC13 or RC58 would definitely look awfully stupid, right?

RC58 maybe, but I think Opera are committed to quality so because of this I really appreciate the RC's and on that note I'm loving the clean UI!

"Houston, the Eagle has landed!"

Opera 11.50 final is out! It has the same version number (i.e. 11.50.1074) as RC5.

Upgrading to v11.50 has fixed my over-excessive CPU usage! :)
