As anyone successfully backed up their Opera profile and then re-instated it again? Especially for those who use a master password with the password manager.

The file is automatically checked for an update every week, though if you can't wait a whole week then select Menu >> Help >> Check for updates and regardless of if there is an Opera update this file will be checked as well.

The reason I'm posting this is the issue with Gmail has been fixed, thankfully! Though the update was on Monday (13th Feb) so if you can't wait a whole week, follow the instructions above.
Why not simply use Opera Mail :?:

Because I tried it once back in V10.00 (I think) and just couldn't really get to grips with it as it was missing a lot of things I wanted. But upon reading your link and using V11.62 at present, perhaps it's time to re-visit Opera Mail.

This post by freakazoid prompted me to revisit adding userscripts to Opera. This was discussed about 2yrs ago here and here.

The second link by joby_toss is a great visual aid, however if you like ini files and doing things manually then try this >>

How to Install:
Create a folder called javascript in the same location as where opera.exe is located. Then edit the file "profile\operaprefs.ini" with the following values below. They may already exist, so search beforehand and change the values accordingly.

Code: Select all

Always Load User JavaScript=1
User JavaScript File=javascript
User JavaScript=1

Has anyone found out how to change the Opera menu text? The trick of editing the key "606160820" in the language file doesn't work anymore. I also replaced the keys that had the value "Opera" and this didn't work either.

urlfilter.ini Download List:
1. Peter Lowe [http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/serverlis ... perafilter]
2. Fanboy [http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera.html]

These are the only 2 I've come across which seem to be up to date.

This extension came in handy the other day >> https://addons.opera.com/addons/extensi ... -everyone/
When you see an error connecting to a site, this extension provides you with information of that site availability for other visitors.

When Opera cannot connect to a site, it shows you a page "Network error", as on screenshot. Sometimes that happens because site is down and no other user can connect to the site at this moment. "Up For Everyone" detects network error page and uses web service DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com to check availability of the site for other users. At the bottom of network error page you will see results of that check.

This extension was inspired by Google Chrome's built-in behaviour.

If you have any extensions installed, you should also back up your "widgets" folder.

I usually just clear all my browsing data except for passwords and autofill stuff
then just archive the whole profile folder with 7zip.
Without all the extra skin packs and other stuff I have added its usually pretty small in size.
I have never had a problem when restoring it even with a master password.

I dont know about how it will do if you use Opera mail tho,
I have only just recently started using it again.

I tested the latest snapshot of V11.62 (see above for links) and what really stood out for me was this fix 'DSK-340349 -Tab drag and drop when moving outside of tab bar does not work as expected' which has been broken for quite some time, 18 months or more.

It appears Opera are finally polishing off those little bugs in the V11 branch so when V12 does arrive the browser world will have a real contender on its hand.

It appears that Opera V11.62 is nearly ready for a stable release. I moved to V11.62 a week ago and so far haven't had many problems or regressions from V11.61.
