after a small search, i've found a page in Tamil's blog http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/unpack-opera-installer
(kind of old, but it does the job) that suggests to rename encoding.bin.cel to encoding.bin.
i'm gonna post it in the main page, too

Autoupdate seems to work fine with mine as a portable.

Its constantly..well once a week maybe...silently downloading its upgrade to the temp folder while I diligently try to understand online japanese comics.
I didnt want to bother with these new operas you seen posted in this thread (every few days for a week or so).

I am currently using the latest release tho and I think its very well done.
a nice stable feeling so far. :D

Yup, using latest stable version as well!

Still amazed at how efficient Opera is.
Check out your task manager next time with Opera running... barely touches the CPU.

Firefox was going nuts for me! Around ~50% CPU!
is it stealth? ;)

I've used Opera in the past *very* casually, used v 9.64 portable version from Kejut.com. I'm very impressed with the improvements made since then!
And doubly impressed by all the research and discussion that have gone into this thread, thank you joby_toss!!!!

I'm trying to get educated about Opera, and have run across some good info here and there. Way back almost two months ago Guinness suggested posting links to websites, and so here are a few sites where I found some good tips. Maybe some of them are resources that you didn't already know about. Don't be discouraged that many of them are for version 9.x, most tips will still apply to v 10.x.

cybernetnews.com
(check their Web Browser Wednesday posts too, and find other browser tips.)

MakeUseOf.com

HowToGeek.com

AddictiveTips.com

http://www.mydigitallife.info/ has some older posts, not much current.

gHacks.net, mostly news announcements, but has a few how-to posts.

There are some very helpful blogs on the http://my.opera.com/ site, but right now I'm blocked by corporate policy and can't snag any links. Look especially for blogs by Tamil and Rijk.

Maybe you'll find useful info on the official support forum on the myopera.com site.
If you have the patience to wade through it, there is also a support group on Google Groups

After I made that comment, I have posted many tutorials and tweaks within this SubForum.

sorry for the oversensitive response, blame it on a 98-degree Centigrade office, my brains are melting and running out my ears!

Anyway, I just tripped over this today, and was amused. Firefox users jealous of Opera :D

This is why I love Opera :D fast updates and no need for 'heavy' extensions! And it's great they still use INI files for configuration rather than the hard to use SQL system.

Google have recently rolled out their "Instant Search" feature and of course Opera isn't a supported browser. But all is not lost. On
JKWebTalks, there is an article on how to instantly have this feature available. (By masking the browser as being Firefox!)

Worked fine! I suggest re-downloading Opera or Universal Extractor.

Try this - http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/win/1062 ... _Setup.exe

I was thinking wasn't it about 1 year ago that V10 became final and I found the entire changelog.

Amazing to think from Sep. 01, 2009 to now how much Opera has improved!
