Posted at program entry, but I think I should post it here too...

Lately, I've been using the Universal Extractor 1.6.1 mod by Gora, which has a very convenient (auto-)update function.

Using that, I managed to update it up to version 1.6.1.58k; but a few weeks back it stopped updating itself, and now whenever I try to it just gives this 'Loading Error':

"Was not possible to load a list-file from the server Probably, there is no connection to a network or the server of updatings is inaccessible. Updating is interrupted!"

Anyone has any info on this? Or about a fix?

I have a couple of bug reports to report, who should I send them to?

I simple update included tools for extraction, so to fix bugs in the main software we may need to study the code to recompile it.. but maybe the original developer is already available if you contact him..

OK, I thought you might have messed with the code too, sorry.

@Lupo77: Thanks, will check it...

@all: info I gathered posted at program entry comments http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=641#23005

Related to this. I downloaded Universal_Extractor_1.6.1.59_sl2p_120228_11-07.7z from the OSZone.net forum thread where Gora posts his updates (http://forum.oszone.net/thread-81059.html); after unpacking I got a folder with the following structure:

Code: Select all

addon.nfo (file)
run (file)
└───Files (dir)
    └───ForceCopy (dir)
        └───SVCPACK (dir)
            UExtract.exe (file)
That addon.nfo file informs me that "Addon is designed for use with Service Pack UpdatePack-XPSP3", but after searching around and poking with various tools (UExtract.exe can't be UniExtracted, WinRAR asks for a password, and the indicated 'UExtract.exe -y -gm2 -fm0' produces no output at the CLI) I can't make head nor tails of this. IMO, this will only automagically work on an installed version. Any clues?

Great news. I dunno who exactly works on on this or why but we all certainly benefit.
