Firefox Unbranded
[Moderator note: this thread was split from the Firefox Portable thread.]
---
Firefox 44 will enforce Extension Signing:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Add-ons/Extension_Signing
I'm going to want a version of Firefox without extension signing. It looks like the Developer Edition, Nightly and Unbranded versions will allow us to disable extension signing.
I'm most interested in the Unbranded version since that is pretty much the Stable version, but with the ability to disable extension signing.
Hopefully Portableapps.com will release a portable version of Firefox Unbranded.

Re: Firefox Portable
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Add-ons/Extens ... ded_Builds is linking older release candidate build, not the final one.
Unbranded release builds found here:
firefox-48.0.en-US.win32-add-on-devel.installer.exe
https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla. ... -on-devel/
https://releases.mozilla.org/pub/firefo ... -on-devel/

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox ... -on-devel/
Directory at the very bottom is the latest build. Check the time and date. They won't have Firefox branding so they will just say nightly.
Another Place to get them.

Re: Firefox Portable
The links to unbranded versions have 'tinderbox-build' in the URL.
What is a Tinderbox build?

Tinderbox is Mozilla's former Continuous Integration server.freakazoid wrote:The links to unbranded versions have 'tinderbox-build' in the URL.

The most likely reason why Mozilla uses Tinderbox for add-on development builds is that it was easy to set up and maintain.

Re: Firefox Portable
So I decided to jump aboard the Unbranded wagon.
FF 48.0.2 unbranded can be found here:
http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/ ... 471979777/
Download the 51M zip file. If you're using Firefox Portable, go to your FF portable's "App" directory and rename the current "Firefox" directory to something else for backup purposes, then extract the "firefox" directory from the ZIP into this directory.
Now, run FF Portable. One of the first things you'll notice is the Firefox version is a Nightly build:

Interesting stuff, thanks. I have a feeling this is going to be a big deal but I'll hold off a little longer before I give it it's own thread.freakazoid wrote:FF 48.0.2 unbranded can be found here

I suggest You to go directly to FTP server that contains all builds of Firefox for various operative systems:freakazoid wrote:FF 49 unbranded can be found here:
http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/ ... 474046055/
- Index of /pub/firefox/releases/: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
- Index of /pub/firefox/releases/49.0/: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/49.0/
- Index of /pub/firefox/releases/49.0/win32/ (for all languages):https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/rel ... 9.0/win32/
- Index of /pub/firefox/releases/49.0/win64/ (for all languages): https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/rel ... 9.0/win64/
But if You are looking for an installer for Thunderbird You can go to:
- Index of /pub/thunderbird/releases/ https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/
If You use a Portable version of Firefox, open the downloaded installer with WinRAR, extract the folder 'core', rename it as 'Firefox' or 'Firefox64' and replace the existing one.
If You do not have, yet, a portable version of Firefox You can download the online installer from PortableAppz from this page http://portableappz.blogspot.it/search?q=firefox at this link http://www.mediafire.com/?okqpffx4ds12iqq

Re: Firefox Portable
freakazoid is pointing to unbranded builds that allow you to install unsigned extensions which are different than stable builds.

These are all the same btw. They all contain the same files, Same IP and Amazon CDN. Just different domain names.

Re: Firefox Unbranded
Couple things... first, freakazoid, how are you determining which build corresponds to the actual stable release as I see multiple 53.0 releases in different numbered folders.
Second, is there interest in having a live installer for this? You can grab it and swap the files into Firefox Portable, too, of course.
