- based on Gimp 2.4.3 stable version.
- all GimPhoto 1.4 and 1.0 great features.
- NEW special menu for Photographic related functions under Menu > Photos
- NEW 100+ Web 2.0 gradient set for easier and ready to use gradient.
- NEW Vista Gray GTK Themes for better looking and more compatible interface.
- NEW GimPad 1.1 that will make GimPhoto scattered window to single MDI ala PS.

This fork is long dead, so there's not much reason to portablize it. GIMP Portable is much more functional. If you like having it integrated in a single window, we have the GIMP Portable Background Window available. We also have the GIMP Portable Photoshop Layout add-on available to make the interface more photoshop-like. We also have the test version of GIMP 2.7.x portablized which has single window support built right in.

If you want to test the lastest (unofficial) builds of the Gimp in both 32-bit & 64-bit portable versions, go to Partha's Place.
The last available (2.74=2.8 Preview) features the new and long-awaited single-window mode...

Wow, that's ugly. I hope that's not the default theme, or that it can at least be changed.

What's with the dark greys in apps now? I notice Adobe is doing this and so is Opera. Did they fire all their interface designers to save some money?

No, this is not the default theme, but the one chosen by the developer in this opportunity. Every new build he/she changes the theme.
Of course, you can download your preferred. There are a lot here and here.
I suppose there's a configuration file to select the theme among various. As I didn't find yet how to do it I just overwrite the default one.

I had the opposite response, but then I don't really like the CS5 Photoshop interface. My Photoshop expert friend thinks its great, but she frequently stares at it 10 hrs a day.

It seems the project has come back to life:
http://www.gimphoto.com/p/downloads.html

The latest version of Gimphoto is 24.1, as announced by Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia ... hoto.shtml
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia ... hoto.shtml

The developer of Gimphoto claims that:
- All Installer and Package is PORTABLE so Gimphoto can be installed easily and smoothly on any version of Windows, without any trouble with permissions or User Access Control (UAC) that exists on newer version of Windows.
but I haven't tested the new Gimphoto releases.

Old thread update:

---

First, the Partha website is seeing updates, but versions, dates, and status are a little unclear, which makes me want to wait on this.

Second, there's a distro using the X-WinPenPack system:
http://www.gimphoto.com/2008/02/gimphoto-portable.html ... unfortunately it's a pretty old version (2.4)

Name: gimphoto-1.4.3_portable.zip
Size: 20029410 bytes (19 MB)
SHA256: 1F1527A100C71B4F1185D423D4DEFF90A7C411082673FE9AFC89298783323219

Initial startup is *painfully* slow.
