I think it's just another addition. I believe DDG and Opera still have a relationship/partnership.

that's what i think, too, guiness. they even had a duckduckgo contest a few days ago
but the strange thing is that after the upgrade, my duckduckgo search was replaced by blekko. i also tried a new installation, but i couldn't find duckduckgo there, too.

This sounds like a bug, as I upgraded and my default search engine was exactly the same.

I was watching a video about HTML5 (I suggest you check it out) in the video series 'Opera Tech Break' that led me to try the latest labs version, which occasionally I do from time to time. The major addition that stood out for me in this particular labs version was the API call getusermedia, now what does this exactly mean to the average Joe? Imagine being able to connect to the users camera or microphone directly from inside the webpage and when most will be concerned about privacy, think about the bigger picture for a second. Instead of looking at it as a way for website to 'spy on us' even more (which I believe won't even be possible with privacy laws in place) think of it as the opportunity for having conference calls directly through a webpage, add recorded comments to websites and much more. Who knows we could be looking at the next generation Skype 'killer.' :)

A new x64 build over at Opera Labs has been released today with bug fixes being made to the long awaited 'Out of process plugins', so check it out.

Another reason why I hope Opera don't move to the rapid release cycle currently adopted by Mozilla and Chromium.

A few days ago I realized I'm having Firefox version 8 *only*. Updated to v9. The same day afternoon I did another update, to v10. Ridiculous.

Wow, Firefox 8. How old school are you tproli? I remember when I was using Firefox 4, I know that was back in the good 'ol days. Oh, no it wasn't, it was 2011!

I've stopped using Firefox because I prefer Opera based purely on the ethics and morals the company strives towards.

For those interested Opera has just released a new snapshot Wahoo and bare in mind this isn't a stable release like the Firefox's and Chrome's of this world, Opera releases when it's ready not when it should be.

There's an old addage in open source: release early and release often. I don't know if its better or worse, or just a marketing ploy, but I don't think its necessarily dangerous.

Opera V12.00.1317 Alpha has been released today with a host of bug fixes. Check it out!

The reason I wanted to post was Opera Mobile 12 for Android and Symbian was released yesterday with a big emphasis on HTML5 & increased compatibility with many websites. Along with this release they showcased a new website, which unlike most who create a website to showcase what their browser can do, this will work with all browsers so long as they support the 'Open Standard.'
