I think we should have two listings:

- Opera 12 (revert the current listing back to v12)
- Opera 15 (create a new listing and use this as the base for whatever version Opera is up to going forward)

In the comments, I suggested something like:

- Opera Classic
- Opera Next

But Opera Classic is not an official term and Opera Next is a working build of the next version release (v16).

Anyone got any feedback for what I proposed?

I would like to switch the existing Opera entry back to v12 and create a new one for Opera 15+.

Andrew is free to step in here, but traditionally we don't do two listings for the same program. The preference here is one forum per named program. I personally don't have an opinion.

me too. v12.16 is excellent, no reason to downgrade.

Miranda NG is a fork of Miranda IM (i.e. a separate project).

I think it's become imperative that we need two different entries for Opera.

v12 and v15+ are two completely different products. People in this thread and in the Opera TPFC listing agree that we need a separation of the two to avoid confusion.

After trying so many Firefox feed readers and finding them all lacking, then opening up Opera 12/Presto and seeing it's beautiful, native feed reader again I'm filled with a sense of loss. Such a magnificent browser they let slip out of their hands.

This is absolutely correct. Neither browser shares any code, only the name. It certainly affects ratings as well. I'd rate the Blink version poorly while the Presto couldn't receive enough upvotes.

yeah, Opera 12 was the best. i'm still using it for as long as a can.

Here's my proposal for two distinct entries. I'd like some feedback as I'm thinking of creating a separate entry if it makes sense to people and is fine by the regulars.

- Opera (Presto)

- Opera

The former would be a new entry for the Presto engine version (v12) while the latter would continue to be the Chromium version. Made a quick screenshot of how the new entry title would appear (the description would obviously change):



As there are separate entries for various Firefox forks it seems more useful for discussion to have separate entries for what are literally two different browsers both from their engine, UI, and features.

Sounds good to me, Specular. I would have done it myself, but I wasn't sure if this is what the braintrust at TPFC would want.

I would also do it the other way around. Since the current Opera entry has a lot of comments spanning many years, to me, it makes sense that New Opera should have the new entry.

Btw, I'm using Bamboo as my RSS feed reader in Firefox. It's not too bad.
