[Launcher] WinDjView-0.5

#1 Post by appsuser »

A quick launcher for WinDjView-0.5, to allow you to carry your settings with you, portably.

Download the launcher zip file and extract:

Box.net
MediaFire

The directory structure for the launcher is as follows:

Code: Select all

JPE\ProgramFiles\WinDjView-0.5\
JPE\jauntePE.dll
JPE\jauntePE.reg
WinDjView-0.5.exe
WinDjView-0.5_jauntePE.ini
Download the WinDjView-0.5 executable and place it in the \JPE\ProgramFiles\WindDjView-0.5\ folder. Launch with the topmost-level WinDjView-0.5.exe.

I thought that WinDJView is portable by itself. Could you tell what does it leave behind?

I just checked, these are mostly display settings, that's why for my use it was portable.
Thanks for the info and the launcher, you just made already good program somewhat better. :)

Seems like I hit my first JauntePE bug when I first uploaded this (the JauntePE Quickie tool had a problem with properly defining the path to the program file). If you encountered this, you can either re-download the launcher (correct version uploaded) or change the following line in the WinDjView-0.5_jauntePE.ini file:

Code: Select all

[Launch]
Path=.\JPE\ProgramFiles\WinDjView-0.5\WinDjView-0.5.exe

No, it's an image format.

The comparison with PDF seems only natural, to me. DjVu, like PDF, is more than just an image format. You can select text within WinDjVu and copy-and-paste it into notepad. What other "image format" can do that? Only PDF, as far as I know. Granted, the features and capabilities of the two formats are very different, so I wouldn't say that DjVu=PDF.

Possibly it's more capable than people use. I've seen about a handful of books and all were just scans. Actually if you look at wikipedia, it also says that it's mainly meant for scans.

BTW I didn't know that you can select text in pdfs. :D
