Recent comments block

#1 Post by Andrew Lee » Mon Aug 23, 2010 8:28 pm

I have added a new block on the right side of the TPFC index page for recent comments, as suggested by one of the forum members.

Hope you find it useful!

Big help. I've modified MANY entries based on the comments, but I know the lag time between me seeing those posts and editing the entry is quite a while. This definitely solves that issue.

Any chance we'll have some kind of delete or down-vote method for useless / spam posts (e.g. anonymous' post here: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1755#17419)?

At least moderators should be able to delete spam comments. See the comments of CCleaner entry.

Yes! Definitely on my todo list. Plus I go through the comments once a day and prune away obvious spam.

Excellent addition to TPFC! I am not an huge fan of the comments section due to the massive abuse they can receive and the difficulty to monitor the changes. So this is a welcomed feature.

Private entries can show up in the recent comments block. That's currently the case for CountryTraceRoute.

This has always been the case. "Private entries" isn't the right term to use here. It just doesn't have enough votes yet.

I'd call it "hidden entries" or "unpopular entries" :)
is it stealth? ;)

I reckon that should be precisely like that: even if not enough votes were posted, the debate should be open to all.

To put it another way, there's no such thing as bad publicity... ;)

See the attachment. This is why I believe private entries shouldn't be displayed there.
