As a weekend experiment, I have switched the comments module to using reCAPTCHA for the turing test.

It seems like a real cool idea to harvest spare brain cycles to aid in the digitization of old books or radio programs!

If you have any comments, please direct them here.

I really like the idea. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the first two it gave me! (Guess there was a reason the OCR had problems with those! )

Also, (probably more of a question for reCAPTCHA than anyone here, but...) does capitalization matter on the "known" of the two words? And, since they have no way of knowing whether capitalization is correct on the "unknown" word which the user is identifying...how will they ensure that the final capitalization of digitized books is correct?

But overall, I like the idea. Hadn't heard of it; I might recommend it to some of my friends now.

From my own tests, capitalization does not appear to matter.

So how they rationalize the results at the back-end escapes me too.

I love this website alot..sometimes I save the page into *.MHT as my data archives..happy offline reading when not busy :)
But now..since reCAPTCHA feature applied..and under XP SP2..with IE6 or 8..saving the page will end with error like "This webpage could not be saved" :(

I tend to disagree. I use Firefox because for me it's better but overall - it depends.

Please, no proselytisation here.

Maybe m^(2) is right..FF dont support MHT files or maybe only with plug-in.

unmht would be the firefox extension for reading and saving mht files.

One of the main reasons I like using firefox is that it has such diverse plugin support. Opera's sort of got something started, but there's not nearly as much development as with firefox.

Sorry for late response..can't see your post at front page.
Just found your comment after i digging this forum.
Don't know what happened to my OS or browser.
For about a week..this site seems freeze to me.
All info not updated.

About Firefox browser plus UnMHT plug-in..
i tried to rip a complicated site like this one.
Then turn off my inet line..del browser cache..tmp..etc..
and reopen the mht file.....WOW!!!
I'm shocked! all the embedded files perfectly riped!
I'm really happy to know that..these all are important to me.
Many-many thanks Spchtr!
PM me if there is something i can do as return. :)
