Need help with a program i want to make portable

#1 Post by TPFC Fan »

Hi,

i have here a programm which i like to run portable,
but i dont get it real portable cause it still writes settings to
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\USER\Anwendungsdaten\VoipCheapCom <--- ,
but redirecting the registrydata works.

Since im a first-time JauntePE user, i dont know if its just not possible
to redirect the User data to the application folder,or if im doing something wrong.
(maybe the paths are not working because of a german Win XP?)

If someone pleasssse could test it, and tell me if its possible or not.
thanks in advance

Programm = voipcheap
FREE CALLS* to regular phones over the internet

Since voipcheap is using the SIP protocoll, you could use Idefisk to phone over voipcheap.

These are the settings you need:
# User: YourUsername
# Password: YourPassword
# Sip-Server/Registrar: sip.voipcheap.co.uk or connectionserver.voipcheap.co.uk
# Domain/Realm (optional*): voipcheap.co.uk
# Stun-Server (optional*): stun.voipcheap.co.uk
(the above was taken from the IP-Phone Forum, forum is in German only).

Instead of Idefisk, you could also use PhonerLite (portable), Xten (not directly portable, but it's feasible) or any other SIP client of your choice.

Happy voiping!

Thanks for reply,
i tried Idesfisk and PhonerLite but unfortunately i dont get them working
with my account data from voipcheap.
I must confess that im not familiar with the sip protokoll.

voipcheap (or freecall and others=all same company) is an application
that i use like skype, the only difference is that it allows me to phone
to regular phones in different countries for free (300 minutes a week).
So i am not registered to their payservice (and so maybe not to the sip service at all?)

In idefisk i get an error "service or option not implented" and PhonerLite is trying
to register something and dont go on.

So i am unsure if we are talking about the same kind of program/protokoll.
Have you tried voipcheap using idesfisk and/or are you sure it have to work using the sip clients?
If yes, it would be nice to get more help to get it working :)

I just need an app to phone people on regular phones (mobiles would be nice too)
in different countries FOR FREE (and portable if possible ;))
If anyone know other apps which do that, i am glad to hear.

Back to the JauntPE topic, im still interested if the User data for that program could be redirected or not :?:

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. I'm using lowratevoip.com for some time already, mostly with hardware, but it also works with the progs I indicated to you. Lowratevoip.com is just another incarnation of betamax, just like your voipcheap (which I haven't tested).

My understanding is that you get the "freetime" only after payment - and that it's only to landlines, not to mobile phones. Here is a good overview of the different betamaxes.

Now for JauntPE, I'm sorry but I can't help you there. But since I assume that you're German (because of your windows settings ... ;-) ) you can surely find a lot of inspiration and also help in the already mentioned IP-Phone-Forum on all matters regarding telephony and the SIP protocol. This forum here is not the right place to discuss such issues.

Have a nice week-end!
Chris

VOIP Cheap Portable

#5 Post by noureahu »

Hi

I thought that TPFC Fan would find this useful - http://www.divshare.com/download/395338-9ab
It is a portable version of VOIPCheapCom I made myself using an AutoIt3 script.
Un-zip the file and run the program "Voip Cheap Portable.exe" (has the same icon as the original program)
It will save settings to the application folder both from the registry and from the the user's App Data folder.
It is in no way an official portable program, but it works.

Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks very much :D
Its working great (and no virus found  ).
I hoped to get it working by myself using JauntPE, but anyway,
i have now a working portable version. :D
My understanding is that you get the "freetime" only after payment...
No, you dont have to pay anything, otherwise i wouldnt use it ;)
If i would have to pay anyway, i would use Wengo or Skype.
Only problem is that it disconnects from time to time offering you to buy
credits cause the free time has exceeded.
...and that it's only to landlines, not to mobile phones.
Yes, that true. Unfortunately.

I would like to push this subject ... even though I had recommended other VoIP programs instead, now I would myself be very interested to get a portable betamax prog.

Or rather the script to make all betamaxes portable.

At the time, I didn't realise there are more things to do with the betamax programs than just to phone. In fact, I had only used them for the registration procedure, and then uninstalled them.

My interest is in having a portable client with which I could send SMS, and which also holds my addressbook so I won't have to enter the numbers manually each time. Currently, I am using voipbuster, but I might change soon as their SMS became too expensive.

So - does anyone have the script? Or knows where to download it?

Cheers
Chris
