PotPlayer

#1 Post by Ruby »

PotPlayer may be more readily available now being hosted at VideoHelp!
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PotPlayer
Done by the same Korean author as The KMPlayer.
PotPlayer at Doom9:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1312075

Portability may be an issue; needs further testing (possibly a wrapper).

joby_toss used Daum PotPlayer as an example in a JPE Launcher tutorial... see http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... 304#p26304

i'm also using it for a long time now. As joby_toss says in his example, it is portable but not stealth.
But i was wondering if we should add it to the database, since the english version mentioned at doom9 is not an official release.

There's a new stable release of Potplayer so I gave it a whirl. This may be one to keep an eye on. Looks and works pretty good. Nice features. But I don't have a clue what the "Pot" stands for. <shrug> Maybe I don't wanna know.

I thing PotPlayer should be added in the database because -
I am using PotPlayer for a year now, I Like it because it players files more smoothly then others and it also has many additional features which are very useful like support for playing broken or uncomplicated downloaded files, tv viewer (if you had tv tuner card), video & audio capture.

I have found if PotPlayer is run using JauntePE it becomes unstable so i am describing an alternate & Easier way to make PotPlayer Portable -

Extract All Files from PotPlayer installer to a new folder using 7-zip delete PotPlayer.exe, $COMMONFILES,$PLUGINSDIR,$SYSDIR then open Notepad and write [Settings] in it and save the file as PotPlayerMini.ini inside the folder where you have extracted the PotPlayer files then when you will run PotPlayerMini.exe it will save the setting inside the PotPlayer folder.

Optionally you can reduce the size of the executable using upx.

Latest version is PotPlayer 1.5.37011 Beta.

Is it Portable though loin2kolpotoru? Did you actually test it thoroughly? Or presumed it doesn't save settings outside of the application folder?

If you ask it that way, it is probably not stealth...

The official installer dose not include all codecs. so download setup from http://www.dvbsupport.net/download/inde ... gory&id=55 it has all codecs included in single setup.
