MP4Cam2AVI
MP4Cam2AVI is a great app; but
MP4Cam2AVI rencodes the the mp4 audio to mp3.
This takes time , cpu power & gives a very slight quality lost.
Still thanks for the input.

@appsuser
Why would one re encode a video when they can just remux it????
@carbonize
Super is horrible lol...
@Island Boy Thx for the Guide/Links (I dont use mp4 though , although when demuxing I just use http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/
question though why use an AVI container (or mp4 for that matter) when matroska destroys all competition

Re: ...
Software compatibility for one; if you're releasing a video you typically want as many people as possible to be able to view it without having to install anything. Then there's hardware compatibility, like DVD players, PSPs, iPods, etc.nycjv321 wrote:question though why use an AVI container (or mp4 for that matter) when matroska destroys all competition
Since AVI's so old a standard, you usually find very good support for it. While MKV files are a great format, they're a little obscure still.

MKVToolnix
MKVToolnix (& it's addons "MKV Extract GUI" & "OGMcleaver v1.0.0") is one of the apps I use most. Love it. (Very usefull with .rmvb "REAL" video files) but like "Queue" said, AVI's is a old a standard & most apps support it.
??? MKVToolnix portable ???? I did not test.

"By default, MP4Cam2AVI doesn't recompress video, that means no quality loss and fast operation (5-20x realtime, depending on audio settings). Audio can be stored in source format, or converted to MP3 (best for DVD-MPEG4 players) or PCM (best for editing)."
I'm pretty certain that means audio doesn't have to be re-encoded. It's also saying video isn't recompressed. I don't know if that means it's re-encoded or not, or just put in a different (AVI) container...
I agree. I primarily use this tool for extracting subtitle files from .mkv files (my DVD player only plays DivX files, not .mkv...)Island Boy wrote:MKVToolnix (& it's addons "MKV Extract GUI" & "OGMcleaver v1.0.0") is one of the apps I use most. Because matroska is a crappy format supported by nothing.nycjv321 wrote: question though why use an AVI container (or mp4 for that matter) when matroska destroys all competition
